Southampton 2s 0 - 31 Winchester 3s

With players unavailable and others helping out with the 1st team today's team was bolstered by the Vets. However we did have a team and we were hosting Winchester 3s in a merit table match.

It started off pretty well, with both teams playing good rugby. We were in their half and tried to make our possesion count, but sadly Darren had left his kicking boots at home!

The opposition was a much changed side from the one we had played previously. There was a lot of youth in their team this time, while ours was boasted plenty of experience, which I hoped would give us the win I hoped for.

Despite getting into their half a number of times we couldn't make it count and it was the same for Winchester. But just before half time they pushed the ball out wide and got past our defence to score in the corner.

After a lot of talking at half time we went for it again, but you could tell that the players in their team had trained together as they were putting together some good moves and we were soon behind the posts again.

Although we rallied round every time we got into their half we came away with nothing and it wasn't long before their youth and fitness started to come through. Eventually it maybe felt like we spent more time behind our own posts, until the ref signalled time.
