A topsy turvy game. Today's game was against Petersfield 3s and was a merit league fixture. It started pretty badly for us when we conceded two tries in the opening ten minutes. After that it settled down a bit and we started to play.
The forwards were doing some good work and the backs were doing their best under a lot of pressure. The play moved up and down the pitch but we were constantly being penalised for minor infringements which didn't help our cause. Some good breaks were made, with Ryan Keary almost managing to score but not this time.
When we turned around at half time it was more of the same: penalties, more little breaks but still not scoring. However we were getting some good positional kicking from Griff. At one point Mark Brown stole a lineout ball but was held up over the line.
We were put to bed in the last ten minutes with another two tries resulting from penalties being taken quickly while we were arguing with the ref.
Thanks go to John Scarboro and Toby Steele for coming to play for us from the Vets.
Final score Petersfield 24 Southampton 0
