Tottonians 3s 15 - 31 Southampton 2s

Things didn't look too good to as we only had thirteen players until about 15 minutes before kick off, until the stragglers finally turned up! But we started off the stronger, as we seem to be doing lately and created good early pressure.

The backs and forwards combined welland Pete Fox went over for a try within the first five minutes, which was converted by the trusty boot of Dave Griffiths.

The forwards worked hard to prevent Totts turning over rucks and winning scrums and fed the back line with good quality ball. The pack then drove forward in a maul releasing the ball to the backs where some slick handling allowed Aaron Nelson to go over for the 2nd try.

We then went off the boil and alowed Tott's to get back into the game. But the defence from all in the team was good, with Doddsy pushing them back into their
22.

The forwards worked hard to put pressure onto the home team's defensive line, with Mark Mauger taking a pass to crash over for the 3rd try. Again it was converted by Griff.

But again we let the opposition gain momentum and they attacked our line and scored in the corner, for a score of Tottonians 5-19 Southampton at half time.

After a few half time changes, the backs were running good lines and getting in behind the Totts' defence. The pressure drove the team deeper into the home side's half and some good inter-passing between Griff and Doddsy opened a gap and Doddsy cut in to score, again converted by Griff.

Totts then had a player sent to the sin bin, but we didn't take advantage of the extra man and instead seemed to allow them to run at us, conceding twice. With the score at 15-26 we regrouped and started to play good rugby, but it
did seem to be scrum after scrum - with the forwards to a man working hard.

We regained control and Dave Griff used his trusty boot to get us back to their end of the pitch. From a lineout the ball was fed out to the back line and some good handling mixed with Fijian flair put Bunny in to score.

The whole team contributed to the win away at Totts with good interpassing and supporting from all- a great away win in the merit table.
