Southampton stayed top of Hampshrie 2 after a tough match against Alresford.
The home side had a very strong pack, and they stood up well to the Southampton challenge, manking if difficult for the visitors to settle into their stride.
But it was not long before Southampton's forwards made the pressure count when Mark Mauger, standing in at prop for Pete Fox, took a crash ball at a breakdown and forced his way over.
Their next try came when Chris Minle caught the ball at a lineout on the Alresford 22. A short drive from the forwards was followed by quick ball to the backs, where Baldwin linked up with Keary who had Julian Robins streaking down the wing to score.
Alresford didn't really look like scoring and instead it was Southampton who finished the game off when Chris Alston showed his pace and finishing ability to go round the outside of the defence.
A difficult day with the boot saw no successful shots at goal, but Southampton's ball carriers won them the game. Harry King took man of the match for his high work rate which saw him a constant prescence in attack and defence, while Tom Jackson continued his excellent run of form and was unlucky to miss out on the jacket himself.
