Another good game of rugby at Test Park that unfortunately saw the Saints falling short with a final score of 26-31 for the visitors Southsea Nomads.
Visitors started strong with a solo try by the n°8 M Smith, Nomads' Man of the Match with a dominating performance, and kept going strong with one more try before the home team managed to shorten the gap with a now trademark maul carried over the line by Kev Simmons.
Nomads led the first half with another another try with a great run by Smith assisting for the Fijian compatriot, giving Nomads a solid lead.
In the second half the Southampton players came in strong, showing character and aggressiveness with the tries from Steve Judd and Tom Grendon, and dominating the territory before missing a chance to score which was took by A. Edwards to run the full length of the pitch and consolidating Nomads' lead.
Saints didn't give up and scored one more time with a perfectly placed kick by the fly half Robbie Ashby to send Jim Pye over the line.
The end of the game saw the home team consistently attacking in the opposition's 22m but failing to score, being held once again over the line.
Great game that saw two solid teams battling until the end for a tight scoreline!
Final score 26-31
Well done and thanks to Southsea Nomads for a really good day of rugby!
