Southampton V Bognor 26-11-22

Another solid home performance from the Southampton RFC men's team against a tenacious Bognor side that traveled despite the low numbers to commit to a good game of rugby.

The home team, refreshed by the comeback of so many players from injury, started strong, dominating possession and territory but too many handling mistakes and a solid defence from Bognor held the result to 0-0 until the 17' when J. Dashwood finalised a good set of plays for the first try of the match.
Keeping the momentum up, the home team scored again with a brilliant first of two individual try from the Man of the Match T. Howells, making the most of a line break.

Saints started the second half with the same intensity shown in the first, and the effort coming from the bench kept them on top of the opponents, allowing them to stretch their lead with the trys from A. Magoma and two from C. Orme, all converted by an incredibly inspired A. Siddle who seemed unable to miss.

A convincing performance made even more significant by the return from injury of many players. Praise goes also to Bognor who traveled down without a full bench but never gave up throughout the 80 minutes.
