Southampton are going to heaven when they die.

On a cold and wet afternoon there was always going to be a few handling errors in this game, but it was Southampton who made the most out of the conditions running in 6 tries in the first half.
A fast-paced start from Southampton immediately translated onto the scoreboard with the visitors going 7-0 up after a great break down the wing saw their number 12 go over in the corner in a well worked move.
Then came a 10 minutes spell in the game where Southampton scrum half Charlie Talbot took the game into his own hands after constant pressure in the Trojans 22, the scrum half’s quick thinking from a ruck saw him beat a defender before going over the line, with another successful conversation from David Bolle-Jones ensuring Southampton went 14-0 up.
The scrum half was then the one to benefited from a strong driving maul, with the forwards powering over the Trojans line to provide the simple finish.
The Southampton backs were loving life out there, using their quick hands and dazzling feet to beat the Trojans defenders, but their number 13 decided to use a different approach to grab Southampton’s 4th of the day, using himself as a battering ram to breakthrough a group of defenders on the halfway, and then using his pure pace to score under the post.
A 5th soon came as Trojans began to get frustrated in the game and conceding a lot of penalty’s in and around the breakdown. A good kick to touch allowed Southampton to score from another well-constructed maul with this time captain Andy Campbell getting the score, and another successful conversation saw them go 33-0 up.
And they had time to grab 6th just before half time when George Day broke through the line of defence before unselfishly offloading the ball to Jordan Dashwood who then went under the posts.
Coming into half time Southampton were 40-0 up and in complete control of the game, but it was Trojans who got the first score of the second half when their number 8 bundled over from a well-constructed maul.
Trojans looked like a better side in the second half, and broke through the Southampton line again before an outstanding tackle from fullback Jack Kaminski brought the players down. From the resulting tackle Southampton won a penalty from the Trojans player not releasing and a quick tap and go saw the ball flung out to the left wing where Southampton’s number 13 charged into the corner to get his second of the match.
Trojans once more replied from a strong maul but missed the conversation to leave the score 45-10. Southampton wasn’t quite finished there though as they used a quick tap and go to their advantage with Talbot charging towards to corner, before a being tackled by the Trojans winger. An outstanding offload from the back off his hands though saw the ball fall to forward Nick Cazeaux who had the simple job of diving over the line.
Trojans still fought on and must of thought they were in for a try when there 12 cleverly intercepted a pass and looked clean through, but some great pace from Talbot saw him make the try saving tackle. Trojans did get there 3rd try of the match however when their number 8 dived over for his 3rd of the game, the conversation was successful and the game finished 50-17.
Southampton will be hoping to take this winning momentum into there next game where they will face Winchester Away.
