It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of one of our own

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of one of our own...Sean O'Donnell...he passed peacefully in the early hours of 11 Sept.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.
In the early 80's Sean stood out in the front row and was a menace to the opposition packs. With his 2 brothers Ray & Paul both in the team & his 2 sisters struggling to stay the correct side of the touch line, together their formidable reputation sent shivers through the league.
In the mid 2000's Sean made a return to the club to support his eldest son Peter, who had started playing. Supporting, getting involved in training, Sean was soon a regular in the 2nds, boosting the teams experience and giving guidance to many young and new players to the game. In his early 50's he even turned out for the 1st team against US Pompey and didnt look out of place.
Sean has been described by those that met him as "a lovely man", "wonderful bloke", "a bloody good laugh", "the sort of that made you feel you had always known him from the first time you met", "with that mischievous twinkle in his eye he always made you laugh".
Characters like Sean O'Donnell are rare and he will be hugely missed by those that knew him and lucky enough to have him as a club mate and great friend away from rugby.
Graham Harris , Coach/Chair during Sean's return period.
